Two Teams Finish Presidents Cup Play...

CFU Takes 2nd & 4th Place!!!

Central Florida United Soccer Club had two teams competing this past weekend in Miami for the FYSA Presidents Cup which gathered all the winners from each Region (A, B, C & D) to crown a State Champion. The two teams from CFU both played in the Under-16 Age Bracket as CFU #602 represented the club on the boy’s side and CFU #612 represented the club on the girl’s side. Congratulations to both teams for winning the Region B Cup and advancing all the way to the Presidents Cup "Final 4"!!!

Six Teams + Four Finalists = Two Champions...

CFU Teams Victorious at Region Cup!!!

Central Florida United Soccer Club sent six teams to the Region B Cup "Final Four" this past weekend and came away with two titles, two second places, one third place and one fourth place. Winning the championships were the CFU #612 Girls Under-16 (Coached by Mindy Mulvihill) squad and CFU #602 Boys Under-16 squad (Coached by Josh Durigan). Two other teams lost one goal games in the finals and finished as the runner-up, they are CFU #811 Under-18 Girls (Coached by Dayna Passarella) and CFU #802 Under-18 Boys (Coached by Ben Luker). CFU #613 Under-16 Girls (Coached by Steve Schnitker) finished in third place while CFU #201 (Coached by Mike McAvoy) finished in fourth to round out the tournament results for the club. The two championship teams will now travel to Plantation were they will play the champions from Region A, C & D in the FYSA Presidents Cup to determine a Region Cup State Champion.

CFU Under-14 Boys

The Central Florida United Under-14 Boys squad, coached by Robert Chambers, traveled to Tampa over the Easter Holiday and finished as Semi-Finalists in the Countryside Easter Invitational. They defeated the Clearwater Chargers (3-0) and Braden River (2-1) in Group Play before losing to eventual champions St. Leonard Lions from Quebec, Cannada in the Semi-Finals.

Two Teams Showed Well at Disney!!!

CFU Under-17 Girls

The Central Florida United Under-17 Girls Coached by Ewan Welsh were finalists at the Disney Presidents Day Soccer Festival IX back in February. The team went 2-1-0 in Group Play before losing in the finals to East Ridge Express of Tennessee. Well Done Ladies!!!

CFU Under-10 Boys

The Central Florida United Under-10 Boys Coached by Rob Coleman were champions at the Disney Presidents Day Soccer Festival IX back in February. The team went 3-0-0 in Group Play and then went on to claim the title by defeating Orange County (8-3) in the Semi-Finals and the Brandon Flames (4-1) in the Finals. Great Job Guys!!!

U-13 Speed Secure Disney Title...

The CFU Speed Under-13 Girls Premier team participated in the Disney Pesidents Day Showcase this past weekend and came away with the championship. The Speed, coached by Keri Heedum, played top squads from Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio and Georgia on the way to the title. They went 2-0-1 in Group Play before defeating Tophat Gold FC in the Semi-finals and AFC Lightning in the finals. Congratulations!!!

U-12 Nitro Secure Another Title...

The CFU Nitro Under-12 Boys team traveled South this past weekend and came away with the Jupiter Presidents Day Cup championship. It was the second tournament title for the team in 2008 as they added it to the Ormond Beach Classic trophy from January. The team played up a year in the Under-13 age bracket and finished group play with a perfect 3-0-0 record. In the finals the Nitro played the home team, Jupiter Sting, and came away with a decisive 8-1 victory to complete the sweep and bring home the hardware. Over the two day event the team scored twenty-two goals while only conceding two. A big "thanks" go out to Nick Bruno, Taber Coleman & Ryan Sandidge who were guest players for the Nitro and helped the team adjust to playing 11 v 11 for the very first time! Good Luck at Region Cup!!!

Three Finals = Three Champions...

Central Florida United Soccer Club had three squads bring home the championship from the 10th Annual Ormond Beach Challenge held last weekend and presented by Challenge Sports. Despite the freezing weather conditions, each team played extremely well while defeating strong competition from around the state on their way to securing their respective age division titles. Congratulations!!!

CFU Fares Well in Prestigious Coaching Directors League...

Central Florida United Soccer club sent its best onto the fields each weekend over the Fall Season to compete in the prestigious Coaching Directors League (CDL) and came away with an impressive 5th Place Club Ranking. The CDL was formed to allow the top level teams from ages 13 - 19 the ability to play the "best of the best" in order to showcase their talent while improving skillset as both teams & individuals. Central Florida United is the ONLY club from the Orlando area invited yearly to participate in this league that features mostly Tampa based squads and finished with an overall record of 21-20-5. The teams that participated are; RSL Tampa, Strictly Soccer, Hillsborough Co., Clearwater SC, Central Florida United SC, IMG Academy, Blackwatch FC, Lakeland SC, Brandon FC & New Tampa SC.
