Six Teams + Four Finalists = Two Champions...
CFU Teams Victorious at Region Cup!!!
Central Florida United Soccer Club sent six teams to the Region B Cup "Final Four" this past weekend and came away with two titles, two second places, one third place and one fourth place. Winning the championships were the CFU #612 Girls Under-16 (Coached by Mindy Mulvihill) squad and CFU #602 Boys Under-16 squad (Coached by Josh Durigan). Two other teams lost one goal games in the finals and finished as the runner-up, they are CFU #811 Under-18 Girls (Coached by Dayna Passarella) and CFU #802 Under-18 Boys (Coached by Ben Luker). CFU #613 Under-16 Girls (Coached by Steve Schnitker) finished in third place while CFU #201 (Coached by Mike McAvoy) finished in fourth to round out the tournament results for the club. The two championship teams will now travel to Plantation were they will play the champions from Region A, C & D in the FYSA Presidents Cup to determine a Region Cup State Champion.

Squads Continue Quest...
CFU Sends Six Teams to the Final Four - The Most by Any Club in the Region!!!
Central Florida United Soccer Club will have six squads competing this weekend in Jacksonville, each trying to secure the Region "B" Cup championship. The teams that secure the title will then move on to face the winners from Region "A" (Miami Area), Region "C" (Tampa Area) and Region "D" (Pensacola Area) for the FYSA Presidents Cup State Championship. The teams competing are:

The CFU Nitro Under-12 Boys team coached by Mike McAvoy came away from this past weekends Region B Cup play with three victories and securing a spot at this years "Final Four". They defeated the Jacksonville Fury 5-2 and the Belleview Attack 5-1 on Saturday, then finished with a 1-0 win against the Rockledge Steelers on Sunday to win the group and advance to Jacksonville.

The CFU Chaos Under-18 Girls team exhibited wonderful heart and commitment this past weekend in victories over East Orange (3-0), Ocala FC (2-0) and the Jacksonville Fury (7-1) to secure a spot at the FYSA Region B Cup "Final Four". Coach Dayna Passarella stated "It was awesome to see them come together and play as they did. As this is the final Region Cup for many of them – there was a lot of sentimental meaning. We don’t have a true goalkeeper – so three girls split time in the net. We played three different formations and kept the other teams on their toes". Forward Jackie Labonte lead the offense by tallying six goals while defender Vanessa Pellet stood out in the back. Vanessa’s leadership, composure and heads up play anchored a defense that conceded only one goal in their three matches.

The CFU Hangliders Under-18 Boys team coached by Ben Luker advanced to the "Final Four" with a 2-0-1 round-robin record in group play this past weekend. They tied East Orange 1-1 before coming up with huge victories over Deltona FC (10-0) and Vero Beach (6-0) to qualify for the March 15th & 16th FYSA Event. "Patrick Jory played brilliantly for us this past weekend and the rest of the boys followed suit. It was a tremendous team effort and we are all looking forward in trying to secure the Region B Championship" said Coach Ben Luker.
